Brief description of the project
This local project focuses on the city of Novy Bug, Mykolaiv region. Its goal is to improve the sanitary and epidemiological conditions for residents and enhance the natural environment while promoting the sustainable development of the community through the reconstruction and expansion of the city’s damaged sewage system, which suffered due to military aggression by the russian federation.
Currently, the sewage system in Novy Bug consists of two branches of asbestos-cement gravity collectors, mainly located in the city's central part. These collectors have a total length of 4,000 meters, with diameters ranging from 200 to 600 mm. Along their routes, 74 inspection wells are installed.
The sewage pumping station houses two primary pumps and one reserve pump, designed to move wastewater through a pressure sewer collector – two asbestos pipelines, each with a diameter of 400 mm and a length of 5.8 km – to the sewage treatment facilities.
However, the current system is insufficient, causing wastewater from the station to overflow into an evaporation pond, where it settles before flowing into local ponds through the overflow method.
The project includes:
- Reconstruction of the sewage pumping station (KNS) on Radisna Street, 42.
- Repair of inspection wells along existing gravity collectors.
- Construction of a new branch of the gravity sewer collector in the city's central part.
- Construction of a new pressure sewer collector from the KNS to the KOS.
- Development of sewage treatment facilities (KOS) with a capacity of 2,000 m³/day, divided into five components.
This project aims to meet the needs of community residents and internally displaced persons (IDPs), with attention to gender and inclusion considerations. The project will benefit approximately 5,000 people. Project documentation is available upon request.
