Overview

The Mezhiv Settlement Territorial Community was established in February 2017 and encompasses 30 populated areas, including 2 urban-type settlements and 28 villages, covering a total area of 630 sq. km. Located in the Synelnykove district of the Dnipropetrovsk region, it borders the Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions. The administrative center is Mezhova, with a total population of 14,646. Following the full-scale invasion, the community provided shelter to an additional 5,253 internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Brief Description of the Project / Technology / Other Specifics

This project focuses on reconstructing the underground water supply system in the Mezhiv Settlement Territorial Community to restore and enhance critical infrastructure. The water supply system, which is 80% worn, has been heavily impacted by rocket attacks and frequent power outages, resulting in water leaks, unstable supply, and increased energy consumption.

Key Project Details

  • Water Supply Infrastructure: Modernizing 21.2 km of water supply networks to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Electricity Demand: Projected annual consumption of 212,000 kW.
  • Service Life Extension: Upgrading the water pump system to extend operational life by 50 years.
  • Current State: Only 15% of the community’s water needs are met, serving over 1,500 residents and critical facilities like schools, a hospital, and preschools.
  • Planned Outcomes: Reliable water supply for 7,400 residents of Mezhova village and 20+ social facilities.

The project aims to deliver a resilient and sustainable water supply system, enhancing community stability and addressing increased demand due to the influx of IDPs.

Advantages of the Project

  • Ensures consistent access to high-quality drinking water for residents and critical facilities.
  • Modernizes water networks and pump systems to withstand power outages and reduce the need for frequent repairs.
  • Reduces water waste and energy consumption, lowering operational costs and promoting energy efficiency.
  • Strengthens the community’s capacity to handle population growth and increased demand from IDPs.
  • Contributes to local economic development by improving living standards and creating opportunities for housing and business.
  • Promotes sustainable resource use by integrating energy-efficient solutions, reducing the environmental footprint.
